The Toyota Fine-T is a fine-x ample of a futuristic looking vehicle that makes a low impact on the environment.

Toyota Fine-T (Fine-X) Concept Car

The Fine-T uses a smaller fuel cell stack design than most other hydrogen vehicles and employs a new alloy catalyst that allows for fewer precious metals to be used, bringing down the price of the fuel cell. The fuel cell unit drives a hybrid propulsion system that is located and mounted under the floor, which, in turn, increases the passenger room and delivers a lower center of gravity. According to Toyota the passenger space of the Fine-T is similar to that of a Camry.

The Toyota Fine-T also distributes power to all four wheels, via small electric motors making this an all-wheel-drive, four wheel independent steering vehicle. This allows for better control and manoeuvrability. The Toyota Fine-T has been tested to literally turn on a dime and spins 360 degrees on the car's axis. This contribution is a major advancement to driving on smaller, thinner roads and when parking in tighter areas.

Another component that makes the Fine-T and environmentally-friendly vehicle is the use of plant-based materials for covering the interior. The materials are considered to be carbon-neutral since they don't add any carbon dioxide to the environment when disposed. Also, they are produced in a way to reduce the carbon dioxide in the manufacturing process.

For safety, the Fine-T uses four peripheral cameras to monitor traffic and pedestrians around all sides of the vehicle. Above the front license plate, a camera is installed and in the rear, the camera is just below the Toyota badge. Side cameras are located on the door handles and pictures from all cameras are displayed on large monitors for the driver inside the cabin.

The Toyota Fine-T boasts swinging gull-wing doors, a rotating driver's seat (one of the "Welcome Seats") that works at the push of a button, and cabin space that measures nearly the equivalent of the entire length of the vehicle, which seats four people. Ingress and egress is easy because of the doors and because with a push of a button the driver's seat moves to the egress position and the driver simply stands up.

It should be noted that Toyota has no plans to fully produce and market the Fine-T. It was entirely designed as a concept car to illustrate how vehicular technology will advance in the coming years by enabling vehicles with performance-based steering and manoeuvrability, low centers of gravity, fuel economy, and a sleek design. Whether you call it Fine-T or Fine-X matters not. What matters is that you call this a truly fine automobile that's shaping the future of automotive technology and design.

2012 Toyota Rav4

2012 Toyota RV4

2012 Toyota RV4

Part of what separates a crossover vehicle from a typical SUV is it’s power. Crossover fans have come to expect an attractive ride that couples the storage room of a minivan with the power of a full sized sports utility vehicle. The Toyota Rav4 2012 model continues to bring people what they want in a crossover. The 2012 Rav4 is available in a four cylinder model that comes with a respectable 179 horsepower. This is somewhat less powerful than some other crossovers but the four cylinder model makes up the majority of 2012 Rav4 sales. The four cylinder engine should have enough power for most common tasks but anyone interested in a sporty vehicle should look into the six cylinder alternative.

The six cylinder version of the 2012 Rav4 brings all the horsepower that crossover fans could want. Under the hood we find a six cylinder 3.5 liter engine which promises to give this crossover plenty of power. The six cylinder model boasts a very impressive 268 horsepower which is really quite a lot of power for such a compact car. This should be enough power to keep rolling in some tough situations that would be sure to stop a minivan in it’s tracks.

The four cylinder models of the 2012 Rav4 are shipped with a four speed automatic transition. Many people in the market for a sports vehicle want a manual transmission but most crossover fans seem to prefer an automatic transmission. The six cylinder Toyota Rav4 2012 models, on the other hand, are shipped with a five speed automatic transmission. While this doesn’t seem like much on paper, the six cylinder, five speed 2012 Rav4s have much more power and ability than their four cylinder counterparts. Even though the V-6 models seem to perform better than their weaker brethren, it still won’t accomplish sport heavy tasks such as serious off road use.

The 2012 Toyota Rav4 is proving that the crossover is often the perfect compromise between the need for space and the desire for a powerful vehicle. With cabin space that can rival a full size SUV, the Toyota Rav4 2012 should fit a whole load of groceries, a small team of soccer players or the entire family with room for luggage. The optional six cylinder engine is bringing with it all the power that you would expect from a sporty crossover and promises to keep you moving in a variety of conditions. If you’re looking for a stylishly designed vehicle with plenty of room and lots of muscle then the 2012 Rav4 could be the perfect option.

2012 Toyota Corolla

The 2012 Toyota Corolla should stand pat after sweeping revisions to the 2011 Toyota Corolla that included freshened styling and a revamped model lineup.

The 2012 Corolla will remain a 5-passenger, 5-door sedan with a take-no-chances character that appeals to its legions of loyal buyers. That approach has put Corolla in the highest rungs of the compact-car sales charts. It may not be enough to keep it there in the face of aggressively redesigned rivals, namely the 2012 Ford Focus, 2012 Honda Civic, and 2011 Hyundai Elantra.

Style: 2012 Toyota Corolla will be a visual repeat of the 2011 Corolla, carrying over the modestly reshaped nose and tail that were part of the car’s midcycle freshening.

That’ll please buyers loyal to Corolla’s conservative character. It won’t help Toyota attract shoppers intrigued by bold new alternatives like the 2012 Ford Focus, 2012 Honda Civic, and 2011 Hyundai Elantra. Each will be fully redesigned and clawing for a chunk of Corolla’s market share. By comparison, the 2012 Corolla is likely to seem tired in appearance and a little outdated dimensionally.

Its exterior size will remain smack in the middle of the compact-car field. But Corolla’s 102.4-inch wheelbase will feel increasingly stingy as newer models stretch that key dimension. Wheelbase is the distance between the front and rear axles. It basically determines a vehicle’s passenger space. Corolla is already a bit pinched for rear-seat space versus leaders in its competitive set. That deficit could grow as roomier rivals hit the streets. Some competitors will offer more than one body style, too. The 2012 Corolla will continue exclusively as a four-door sedan. A wagon version of the Corolla is marketed as the Toyota Matrix, however; it shares the sedan’s chassis, but has a tall roof and is available with all-wheel drive.

The core of the 2012 Corolla lineup is likely to return the three-model roster born of the model-year 2011 reshuffling. Entry-level Base, volume-selling LE, and sporty-looking S versions should return. Styling distinctions between the Base and LE come down to details such as outside mirrors that are body colored on the LE and black on the Base model, and availability of alloy wheels on the LE. The 2012 Corolla S model should continue its impersonation of the departed XRS, with sporty-looking body spoilers, aero add-ons, and standard 16-inch alloys.

Mechanical: The 2012 Toyota Corolla could experience some powertrain updates if Toyota responds to competitive pressure from newer rivals that boast 40-mpg highway fuel-economy ratings. Without more advanced transmissions and other changes, the 2012 Corolla’s likely to rated a best 28/35 mpg – and that’s with the seldom-ordered manual transmission.

Resurrection of a sporty XRS model could also alter the 2012 Corolla’s powertrain picture by reintroducing a higher-horsepower engine, though the low demand that helped kill the XRS for model-year 2011 doesn’t seem ready to reverse itself.

That points to a return of one four-cylinder engine for all three 2012 Toyota Corolla models, a 1.8-liter rated at 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. Once squarely in the ballpark, those figures are now below par for Corolla’s competitive set, where rivals such as the Elantra and 2012 Focus will offer base four-cylinder engines with around 150 horsepower, and advanced direct fuel-injection, to boot.

The new crop of top compacts will also come at 2012 Toyota Corolla with sophisticated six-speed automatic transmissions; in Ford’s case, a six-speed twin-clutch automatic. Unless Toyota updates the 2011 Corolla powertrain, its compact will again be saddled with a four-speed automatic transmission that’s archaic by comparison. In transmissions, the greater the number of gear ratios, the more efficiently the transmission extracts the engine’s power and the better chance of optimizing fuel economy. Automatic transmission will likely remain standard on the 2012 Corolla LE model and an option in place of a five-speed manual on the Base and S versions. Even here, Corolla seems to lag; the manual in top rivals has six speeds.

The 2012 Toyota Corolla will retain front-wheel drive, which places the weight of the engine on the tires that propel the car. That translates to good wet-surface traction and, by grouping powertrain components in the nose, results in efficient packaging.

Features: 2012 Corolla will continue to offer most of the features germane to the cost-conscious compact-car owner. Competitors, however, are increasingly emphasizing the sort of cutting-edge driver-aid and infotainment technology that Toyota has thus far reserved for its larger, more expensive cars.

To remain viable for a certain segment of buyer, the 2012 Toyota Corolla would need to offer at minimum modern essentials such as a navigation system; thankfully, it finally added an USB iPod interface and Bluetooth mobile-phone connectivity for model-year 2011. Still, shoppers drawn to new-age amenities like pushbutton ignition, lane-departure warning, and self-parking – all available in some 2012 Corolla competitors — will have to wait until 2014 to see if Toyota’s compact offers them.

The wheelbase of the 2012 Toyota Corolla is 102.4 inch, thereby giving a higher scope for passenger space. It has sporty body spoilers, standard 16-inch alloys and aero add-ons. It also features a 1.8 litre engine with 28/35 mpg and a five-speed manual transmission and 26.34 with a four-speed automatic transmission. Likely to be out in the showrooms by autumn 2011, 2012 Corolla is a much awaited impulsive machine that is worth the investment of a base price of $16,300 with a variety of standard features that can be asked to be disqualified against a certain amount of bargain. Toyota Corolla 2012 can produce 132 horsepower at 6000 rpm. Owing to the fact that Corolla 2012 has a 4-cylinder engine, the mileage is a hundred times better than a lot of its competitors in the market. The 2012 Corolla Toyota also provides the buyers with a second option in terms of engine, which includes the 2.4 litre engine that can produce 158 horsepower at 6000 rpm. This proves the robustness of the vehicle that has overgrown all the other models launched previously by the company.

2012 Toyota Vitz Toyota Yaris

Here is a new 2012 Toyota Vitz/Yaris Specification, Photos and Review. Toyota has officially taken the wraps off its new Japanese Vitz model, sold here as the Yaris. That might not at first be obvious, as the sub-compact has received quite the makeover, with an edgier design. It might not get your heart racing, but it won’t send you into a coma where you’ll dream about jellybeans (like the last car did) either. Perhaps most notable, however, is the interior, which no longer features the ergonomically nightmarish centrally located gauges.

Toyota Corolla 2008

Toyota focused on enhancing basic performance and deepening the sense of quality, by responding to customer needs. Some specific examples are the rear view monitor that is standard on all Corolla Axio models and the one-touch double-folding rear seats that are standard on all Corolla Fielder models. In addition, the Corolla features a newly developed 1.8-liter engine and Super CVT-i (Super Continuously Variable Transmission-intelligent) transmission that provide outstanding cruising and environmental performance.

The new Corolla uses advanced equipment not previously seen on compact vehicles, such as a Pre-crash Safety System using millimeter-wave radar and an Intelligent Parking Assist system, which lets people park just by using the gas and brakes (it turns the wheel for you). The Corolla is the second vehicle in the world to get this system - and it costs under a thousand dollars (translated from the yen). This system includes a backup camera monitor, which is probably also going to be available with the navigation system.

Mistic wrote: “In Europe, Toyota has introduced the follow-up-model for the Corolla, namely the Auris. Toyota plans to take on the cannon-ball-hatchbacks like the Golf GTI and Civic Type R by releasing a 2.2 liter VVTI-Twin Turbo-version with optional flap-paddles.”

Toyota intends to sell 6,000 of each of the two models each month in Japan. They will be/were launched on October 14 and 15 and will be built in separate plants. A 1.5 liter engine will be available, with a five-speed manual transmission or the CVT; the 1.8 will only be available with CVT. Four wheel drive is available with both engines and CVT (not with five-speed.)

The Australians will get a version close (if not identical) to the Japanese model in early 2007 in both sedan and hatchback form, but restricted to the 1.8 liter dual VVT-i engine to compete better in the competitive, power-hungry Aussie market. The Australian version is rumored to be slated for a luxury approach, with extra airbags, a standard six-speed manual transmission, high-intensity discharge headlights, distance-sensing cruise control, and other features.

The American version of the Corolla, to be built in the usual North American plants, will be delayed around March 2008, in order to shake out any bugs for the world’s largest auto market, and probably to allow for factory upgrades and various Americanizing touches. (Past American Corollas have undergone considerable suspension and engine tuning along with the usual regulatory compliance measures which affect headlights, child seat anchors, and other systems.)

In other parts of the world, the Corolla may be sold as the Auris; or Toyota may take advantage of the “world’s favorite car” status and move it to the Corolla name.

Tenth-Generation Toyota Corolla (Japan) special features

  • The Corolla Fielder features the world's first one-touch double-folding rear seats with backrests that can be folded flat with a single flip of a lever located in the rear cargo space.

  • The optional advanced Intelligent Parking Assist system supports steering operations when parallel parking and backing into a parking space. Ultrasonic sensors installed on the front of the vehicle detect other parked vehicles and based on the results estimate the physical dimensions of a vacant parking space and set the target parking position.

  • The Corolla Axio features a new Pre-crash Safety System that uses millimeter-wave radar. When the millimeter-wave radar detects a high risk of collision, the Pre-crash Seatbelts provide better initial restraint capabilities for passengers while the Pre-Crash Brake Assist system decelerates the vehicle to reduce the collision speed and contribute to less collision-caused damage.

  • The new Radar Cruise Control system detects and monitors the preceding vehicle and the lane, maintaining a fixed distance according to the preceding vehicle's speed within a preset range of speed.

Body notes: 2008 Corolla

  • The front corners have been given a curved design to achieve effective maneuverability.

  • The backseat floor hump is minimized to create flat-surfaced legroom, enabling three adults to sit in the rear comfortably (front-wheel-drive models).

  • The steering wheel has a telescoping function that allows its position to be adjusted front to rear for a comfortable driving posture.

  • To enhance visibility, the top surface of the instrument panel is low while the front pillars have been extended forward and made slimmer.

  • The Smart Entry & Start System employs a Smart Key to lock and unlock the doors and a button to start the engine—all one needs is to have the vehicle key on one's person or nearby.

  • The HDD (hard disc drive) navigation system features a 6.5-inch wide display screen and a 30GB high-capacity HDD, as well as a variety of multimedia functions and advanced navigation functions.

New Toyota four-cylinder engine and CVT

  • The new Corolla models feature a new 1.8-liter 2ZR-FE engine and Super CVT-i (Super Continuously Variable Transmission-intelligent) transmission developed as the main powertrain for compact and medium-class vehicles.

  • A newly developed 1.8-liter 2ZR-FE engine adopts Dual VVT-i (Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) that optimizes both intake and exhaust to achieve smooth and powerful acceleration, while offering fuel efficiency and environmental performance at class-leading levels.

  • Both the 1.8-liter and 1.5-liter engines are combined with a newly developed Super CVT-i transmission for smooth cruising and linear acceleration without shift shock, as well as for a quiet ride and improved fuel efficiency.

  • The new Corolla has a light-weight, high-rigidity body that seeks both a quiet cabin and superior aerodynamic properties; it uses an advanced chassis to achieve performance that makes it truly possible to experience the joy of driving.

  • Key components of the front and rear suspensions have been tuned to provide brisk maneuvering and cruising stability, as well as a comfortable ride.

  • Americans will probably only see the 1.8 liter engine.

Safety and Environmental Performance - 2008 Toyota Corolla

  • During collision tests under stricter-than-normal standards, the speed was set at 55km/h, and the vehicle was subjected to omni-directional, vehicle-to-vehicle collision tests with a vehicle up to the 2-ton range. Through the use of a body structure that effectively absorbs collision impact, Toyota satisfied all independent targets for survival space and dummy injury.

  • The pedestrian-injury-lessening body structure has been evolved to further reduce pedestrian head injuries, pursuing a class-top level of protection.

  • The front-seat structures are based on the WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) concept and come with stronger seat frames and greater backrest give. They were designed based on analyses using THUMS (Total Human Model for Safety), incorporating a structural design that reduces stress on the neck during low-speed rear impact.

  • All vehicles in the two series have been certified as having emissions levels 75% lower than the 2005 standards under the Japanese system. The 1.5-liter front-wheel-drive model (with CVT) and 1.8-liter four-wheel-drive model of the Corolla Axio, and the 1.5-liter front-wheel-drive model (with CVT), 1.5-liter four-wheel-drive model, and 1.8-liter four-wheel-drive model of the Corolla Fielder also achieve fuel efficiency that is 10 percent greater than the Japanese 2010 fuel efficiency standards, qualifying for incentives under the Japanese government's Green Taxation System.

  • Eco-VAS (Eco-Vehicle Assessment System)—Toyota's original comprehensive environmental impact assessment system—was implemented to achieve, as efficiently as possible, the overall reduction of environmental impact, from initial development to disposal, throughout the vehicle's entire lifecycle. LCA (Life-cycle Assessment) was also carried out, aiming to reduce CO2 and other atmospheric pollutants, not just during the use stage, but also during the vehicle's entire lifecycle, from manufacture through to disposal.

  • A review of the materials, processing methods and adhesives used for interior parts resulted in a reduction in the amount of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) used, thereby also reducing the discomforting odors emitted from such compounds.

  • An Eco Drive Indicator lights up when the vehicle is being efficiently operated to raise the driver's awareness of environmentally considerate driving and contribute to higher fuel efficiency.
